Growing Kiwi Gardeners

Kia ora, my name is Anita Croft. In 2018 I combined my passion for gardening and sustainability with my passion for teaching young children to start Growing Kiwi Gardeners. I am a qualified early childhood teacher with six years of experience teaching in the early childhood sector and eight years teaching in the tertiary sector. I hold a Master of Education degree where I studied pre-service early childhood teachers’ preparedness to teach education for sustainability.

I have a long-held passion for growing my own food that began in my own childhood. Growing sustainable food is something I believe should be part of the curriculum of every early childhood service. This passion has led me to create a hands-on gardening curriculum for young children and professional learning opportunities for early childhood teachers and centres, specialising in gardening with young children and environmental sustainability.
