The Organic Store is a retail arm of the The BHU Organics Trust. We are a Charitable trust and in a joint venture with Lincoln University and the New Zealand Organic movement. The BHU is dedicated to providing education, training and research in organic, ecological, permanent and related agricultures and horticultures.
The Biological Husbandry Unit (BHU) was established in 1976 and in August 2001 was relaunched as the BHU Organics Trust. It is a charitable trust comprising representatives of organisations and farmers involved in organic agriculture and sustainable farming. The BHU farm covers an area of 10 ha, it features a diverse range of established model organic agricultural and horticultural systems that are used for research, demonstration and education. The vision is to become a centre of excellence in vocational training for organic and more sustainable land based production systems – combining demonstration, research, advisory services, commercial production and education in a unique holistic way.
